The Joe Kenney Band7:00pm
Phoenixville, PA

Joe Kenney is a recording artist and virtuoso keyboardist from Philadelphia. His recordings are distinctly his: a cohesive blending of jazz fusion, rock, and classical idioms. Prolific -- he’s put out three full albums with two forthcoming (all in three years) -- Kenney has garnered praise for both his original compositions and cover arrangements.
His debut album, Afflictions and Remedies, a solo piano album, was praised as a "painting of a piano at work" by Meredith Hairston, who put the album in rotation at WJSU in Jackson, MS.
Joe's eight-track debut has also received spins on WRTI and WXPN in Philadelphia.
In early 2016, Kenney showed his versatility by delivering a nine track album of jazz and classical inspired arrangements of alternative rock and top 40 hits. Released in February 2016, "1.5" was recognized on broadcast radio 104.5 Philadelphia several times and featured on the alternative rock station's page on iHeartRadio. DJ Wendy Rollins characterized his Twenty One Pilots cover as "perfection" and went on to praise Joe for "re-imagining songs in a completely different format".
Expanding into different formats, Kenney got to work on an album with a full band for the first time, honing in on a jazz fusion sound while retaining the classically informed harmonies from his first two albums. The first two singles from the upcoming album were released in November 2016, with the third single, "Zera", put out in May 2017.
In March 2018, Kenney released 2.5, his third full studio album in as many years. Showcasing multiple styles and varying instrumentation, 2.5 features distinctively energized reinterpretations of eight alternative rock hits. The first half of the album features funky, bluesy, jazzy, and even classical-inspired full group instrumental and vocal arrangements of four songs, while the second half of the album features virtuoso solo piano re-imaginings of four others.
In June 2018, Joe signed on 212° Records with Carter Fox and Michael Tozzi of iJazzGlobal. In August, Joe made waves with his debut orchestral performance with the Chesco Pops, where Kenney's arrangement of his own original work "Zera" was premiered.

Pittsburgh, PA

Tim Vitullo is a bit different.
An accomplished singer, guitarist, & songwriter, Vitullo decided to return home to both Pittsburgh & his blues influences to record Josephine & Assorted Train Songs, his debut studio LP.
This statement finds Vitullo coming into his own as both a vocalist & composer after spending several years primarily as a “guitarist-for-hire.” Songs like "Josephine" are made concise & accessible by a smooth delivery & sly sense of humor. Ballads "Letters" & "A Different Kind of Blue" are earnest experiments in confessional-style songwriting flanked by dense vocal & horn arrangements. Further, burners "Interstate Jesus," "Black & White Wonderful," & "Pretty Good" (a cover of the John Prine classic) flash the guitar prowess that has been Vitullo's calling card since his earliest musical ventures. These songs combine to create a portrait of “contemporary Americana blues” music that borrows as much from Vitullo’s jazz, jam band, & country influences as it does the American blues tradition.
Josephine & Assorted Train Songs was produced, engineered, & mixed by singer/songwriter & producer Steven Foxbury in Pittsburgh, PA. Recorded entirely at Foxbury's Yellow Couch Studio, the LP is a homegrown display of some of Pittsburgh's most promising young talents.
Prior to Josephine & Assorted Train Songs, Vitullo established himself as an exciting, young jazz composer & improviser in State College, PA with the release of This is the Thing! in 2012. That EP, comprised completely of Vitullo’s original compositions, explores the harmonic & melodic characteristics of bebop, Brazilian bossa nova, modal jazz, & fusion genres. Those recordings doubled as Vitullo's undergraduate thesis, allowing him to graduate with Honors in Music from The Pennsylvania State University that same year. Many are surprised to learn that he received a Bachelor's of Science in Civil & Environmental Engineering upon graduation too. This is the Thing! was produced by Dr. Stephen Hopkins (who is also featured on piano throughout the album) & engineered, mixed, & mastered by multi-platinum recording engineer Marc Frigo at his former State College, PA studio.
Currently, Tim is performing regularly with his group, the Tim Vitullo Band (TVB), in the Northeast, Midwest, & Atlantic Coast regions in support of Josephine & Assorted Train Songs and his latest material. Tim was also featured as a "Who's Next: Up & Coming Artist Under 40" by The Incline magazine and as an Artist-in-Residence at James Street Gastropub & Speakeasy in 2017. He is preparing material for a follow-up album to be recorded in 2019.

WE don't believe in rules…. Rules are limitations placed upon you by others through their own insecurities, fear, and lack of imagination. WE believe in learning the rules of your instrument so you are not bound by those rules, and you are free to create. If you were to ask the other guys in the band what this is to them, you'd probably get 5 different answers: and that's really the point.
Music is singular to the individual: We each bring something to the table the others don't have, and together we create something that is unique. If you were to take a cross-section of who we are, and what we do, you'd find permutations of that which has already been done: At the core, we're a power trio, and an MC fronts the band. Growing up in the late 90s, early 2000's unfortunately I remember that era of bands categorized as 'rap-rock' (..and zero guitar!!); yet none of those bands were equipped with a neo-soul wizard on the keys. Conversely, there are many r&b outfits that dabble in hip hop and soul; yet, I've yet to see one with a lead guitar player blowing LA rock guitar through a Marshall stack. We deal in rock, jazz, funk, reggae, neo-soul, and we play live. We can take to any stage, in any circumstance and do what we do without the aid of a computer. It's real, and that in and of itself, I believes sets this band apart. Marv has a story to tell, we help him tell it. There are 4 different versions to this story, and what I've laid before you is simply how I see it….

"It’s hard to pin down the sound exactly, but it sounds something like an imaginary island of alternative music located somewhere in the mid-Atlantic. It’s not quite a UK style math-sound and it’s not quite a folk-esq US sound either, but it is populated and punctuated by the same sonic measures of tapping, slides and complex syncopations that we know and love."
-Aidan McGovern, Musical Mathematics

"Beautiful guitar work, delicately crafted vocals, and cool polyrhythmic bass and drums reign supreme in this four piece’s formula; it can be easily assessed as rock solid in nearly every aspect, with no facet falling flat."
-Math-rock.net

"Despite the album name, the four tracks included on the album feature some great, clean-sounding guitar work. Not to be outdone, the vocals and drums are at the same level of quality and clarity."
