Night of Progressive Rock This Friday Night w/ Tunsten, Mile Marker Zero, Out of the Beardspace, Shadow Merchant, Lor and more..

The Legendary Dobbs is stoked for this Friday for a Night of Progressive Music. We have two floors of some amazing talented bands that bend their music to expand the listeners mind.  This show is going to be sick on so many levels. If your into progressive music check out these bands and come out thisd Friday MAr 1st @ The Legendary Dobbs.

Tungsten @ 12pm

Imagine combining the psychadelica of 70’s Pink Floyd with the blistering guitar harmonies of 80’s Iron Maiden. Update those classic sounds with the modern progressiveness of Opeth and Mastodon, top the blend with the intense vocals of one of Philadelphia’s most talented front-women, and you get Tungsten.

Mile Marker Zero @ 11pm
From the moment they formed in 2003, New Haven, Connecticut quintet Mile Marker Zero have taken a slightly off-kilter, multi-tiered approach towards rock music that bordered on duality. Their songs are epic and ambitious, filled with unconventional arrangements and challenging rhythms yet they also flow with powerful melodies and memorable choruses. Even their name is a dichotomy.

Out of the Beardspace @ 10pm
Out of the Beardspace is a 6-piece experimental rock band from South Jersey. They draw their influences from Mahavishnu Orchestra, Miles Davis, Return to Forever, Gentle Giant, Dirty Projectors, Led Zeppelin, Nine Inch Nails, The Mars Volta, Yes, King Crimson, Bjork, The Beatles, Radiohead, Pumba, Duke Ellington, Dynamic Monotone, Bill Mollison, Geoff Lawton, Masanobu Fukuoka.

LOR @8pm
Lör was founded by 5 kids in their senior year of high school. After releasing their first 5-song Demo and reforming their lineup, Lör has been playing shows in the Philadelphia area for over two years. We have opened for huge acts including the legendary Italian power metal giants Rhapsody of Fire at the Trocadero. Influenced by Kamelot, Opeth, Equilibrium, Between the Buried and Me, Blind Guardian, Rx Bandits, Dillinger Escape Plan.

On the 2nd Floor:

In Prescence of Wolves @ 11:30pm
Wishing to do something different from conventional rock and local music, they chose to challenge themselves musically and creatively in a way that is totally different from other bands in South Jersey. After a series of setbacks and side project...s, the two reconvened and got to work on their music. They embraced the freedom of prog music where they were free to experiment without labels or expectations. Influenced by Rush, Porcupine Tree, The Mars Volta, Mastodon, Opeth, Incubus, Yes, Tool

Atom Strange @ 10:30pm
ATOM STRANGE and the HI-FI SCI-FI movement they have pioneered is becoming an evolution in musical genres. Blending substance, groove, depth and style with top notch recording fidelity backed by engaging, big venue stage presence truly makes ATOM STRANGE a force to be reckoned with.
ATOM STRANGE blends dynamic, innovative riffs with powerful accessible melodies and hooks. Their attention to song writing gives a sense of cinematic depth to the band while their love for the unexpected gives ATOM STRANGE a voice truly their own.

9 Crown Monarch @ 9:30pm
9 Crown Monarch started rocking the Chester County area in 2002 at Kennett High School. Since then they have spread their music throughout the Tri-State area playing venues like The TLA, Kahunaville, GrapeStreet, Mojo 13, Mojo Main, The Note, The East End Cafe, McFaddens, and The Fire Philly. Beyond Dishonor - Hardest Working Band in Metalcore

Every once in awhile a band emerges from the underground metal scene mainly because of hard work and dedication into writing original compositions that don't fall into the norm. Well thats Beyond Dishonor and more... BD combines complex writing, devastating grooves, dual guitar attack and front man that is aggressive as hell. This one of the most explosive live bands I have seen in the metal world. DVT Entertainment is proud to be working with BD. They had a successful radio campaign in the fall with their previous release "Travestry" which peaked to #3 on the CMJ Metal Charts right behind Lamb of God. Check out their Video below for Otis (Dragonslayer) you will see what I mean. Check out their new track from their upcoming EP Generations called ED-209 vs. The Staircase featuring Ricky Armellino

They will be playing next Saturday Feb 23rd at 11:30pm for my Birthday Bash at TL Dobbs
- Jim Thorpe - Legendary Dobbs

If you are not having fun, the crowd isn’t having fun—this sums up the philosophy of Beyond Dishonor. Comprised of five members with very disparate influences, styles and quirks, this stalwart of the resurgent New Jersey Metal scene combines all of those myriad differences between them and, somehow, creates music that is brutal and aggressive enough for the most hardcore of fans and yet groovy enough to be accessible to those on the fringe.

Formed in late 2006, Beyond Dishonor has represented one of the few success stories in a very challenging landscape. Much of their success stems from the overwhelming support and praise provided by the many nationally-recognized artists they have supported, including Unearth, Chimaira, August Burns Red, Attack Attack, All Shall Perish, As Blood Runs Black, Winds of Plague, Born of Osiris, The Absence, Carnifex, Suffocation, Emmure, Mushroomhead, Texas in July, Chimaira, This or the Apocalyspe and so many more.

Beyond Dishonor is an extremely hard-working band, playing 70+ shows a year. Their recent full-length, travesty., was a bold, conceptual step for the band. The music is wrapped around the lyrics of singer Reese Dunlap, who's literary, filmographic and intellectual obsessiveness pervades each song with hidden meanings, double entendre', and tongue-in-cheek jabs. It is their sense of humor, their unabashed desire to be serious without appearing pretentious and a high level of stage experience that has helped shape this 5 piece.

Currently they are recording their upcoming 2013 release "Generations" with Andreas Magnusson at Planet Red Studios (Oh Sleeper, Impending Doom, A Life Once Lost, Black Dahlia Murder, This or the Apocalypse).
