Coming up on Thursday 12/19/13
The Legendary Dobbs has a kick ass non nonsense balls to walls hard rock show with
Lower The Veil, Black Water Rising,
Cycle of Pain, Gaggle of Cocks
and One Ton Shovel

Below check out these kick ass bands!!

Cycle of Pain
www.facebook.com/pages/Cycle-of-Pain

John J.D. DeServio’s career as a bassist can be defined only as formidable and impressive. His time spent with Black Label Society has taken him around the world and made him a sought after bassist for clinics from Japan to South America and back. But long before he began globetrotting J.D. started out like most accomplished musicians, in the garage with a band and whiskey. 25 years later, that same band has emerged as Cycle of Pain with an intense and diverse self titled hard rock album.

Though rooted in metal, the album’s 12 tracks delve into elements of funk, hip-hop and soul. The core of the band is the same with Gregg as lead vocals, Joe Taylor on guitar and Rich Monica (Tantric) on drums. Cycle Of Pain also features performances by Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society, Ozzy), Ray Luzier (Korn) Brian Tichy (Billy Idol), Sen Dog (Cypress Hill), Russ-T Cobb, Hugo Ferreira (Tantric), Marcus Ratzenboeck (Tantric), Clip Payne (P-funk), Burton C Bell (Ascension of Watchers, Fear Factory) & Russell Allen (Symphony X). The album is available in stores and online now!

Black Water Rising

BLACK WATER RISING is a collection of soul baring, angst ridden, riff heavy material that is proudly anchored in the foundations of traditional Hard Rock song writing. Giant guitar driven monster riffs served up on a bed of crushing grooves with soaring melodic vocals and big hooks. Basically, NO FRILLS RIFF ROCK! Lyrically the message is socially and politically driven by the dark times we live in. With darkness seemingly growing by the day, BLACK WATER RISING is a name that fits this band like a glove. The philosophy of BWR is simple, they are not looking to reinvent the wheel, they just want to give it a much needed alignment in these musically stale times.

Some say BWR is Hard Rock, Metal, Stoner, Southern Sludge, whatever... We set out to create a No Frills, Riff Raging, turbo charged, wall of pure kick ass Power Rock, we believe we have achieved that.

Lower the Veil
http://www.lowertheveil.com

“Their music comes from the bowels of the earth and indeed you can easily imagine its members giving a concert in the middle of the Rocky Mountains. They produce pure Heavy Rock greatly influenced by the California Stoner style of Kyuss or Karma To Burn”
Steven Akerfeldt - Music Waves
The included music is sorta Classic Rock orientated, with some Melodic Hardrock type of material as well, but also here and there (“All that’s real”) we can hear the SOUNDGARDEN/ALICE IN CHAINS type of lowtuned 1990s Altmetal. However, a song like the semi-ballad “The sawyer” is a very strong and quite melodic tune, with some well-thought lyrics.”
Strutterzine

“This is a band that explodes on stage with strong conviction, a clear and succinct sound, and an innate ability to captivate an audience from the first toe tapping bass line to the last hip swaying drum beat. Lower the Veil is an experience. It's a kind of sound reminiscent of the blues of the 70's, the edgy hard rock of the 80's, and the progressive melodies of the 90's, yet still refreshingly current. It's rock and roll. Pure simple and sexy rock and roll.”
“Drawing from a variety of influences, while carving out a path of their own, Lower The Veil have really shown it is possible to provide a caress of steel, making The 100th Monkey a classy slice of gritty and rough, yet smooth and shiny rock, that shocks, seduces and soothes as it slams home.”

Gaggle of Cocks
http://www.facebook.com/gaggleofcocks

we're from new york city... we play intense hard rock... there are three of us (sometimes four)... yes, that constitutes a gaggle... who cares .. we're low class and kick ass... long live American Trash!

“I personally find them in the same vein as Pantera and bands of their ilk, taking names and casting blame, they are what is best of the Hard Rock movement, no glam, no sparkle, just hard edge and driving rhythms and a drum beat that calls to the fight, to the war against mediocrity in music, a Gaggle of Cocks will be heard.”
Joseph Timmons - Xombiewoof Magazine
“Not since Melvins, Antiseen, Dwarves, Butthole Surfers and Agony Column has a band sounded so incendiary.”

Must See Artist: Water Seed from (NOLA)

The Legendary Dobbs is excited to have this amazing touring artist come through Philadelphia
on Thursday, November 21st,
show starts at 8pm.
w/ Michael and the Mooncussers , The Tree Rats
To learn more about them see below

What do you call a musical gumbo that recalls the ancestral strut and joie de vivre of the New Orleans’ Tremé, the drama and ecstasy of the church’s wailing floor, and the suited-up sophistication of jazz threaded with the party funk of Parliament? What do you name sounds that hail from Africa, Brazil, the Caribbean, and the red dirt South all at once? How do you label music that simultaneously ev...okes all of the uncontainable energies and passions exploding from so many disparate musical legacies? Here we call it Water Seed.

The rhythm section next, funks things up with You'll Come and Turn you On. Just try to stop knodding your head on these ones.”
Jazz and Soul

“it's a great mix of jazz, hip-hop and soul. I also like that it retains a "live" sound, especially when used in tandem with more synthetic sounds. My favorite tracks are Hues of Blue, Feel Like I Do, Can We Dance (waiting for a remix to that one) and Adam & Eve.”
Carlton Hargro - Creative Loafing

“The show ended with everyone standing and clapping as if it were church, and then the offering plate came into the audience.”
Live New Orleans Music

“Water Seed gives me hope!!!”

Check Out Hephystus and Charetta at Dobbs on Saturday Nov. 9th!

On Saturday, November 9th we have a sick hard rock and metal lineup that features the regional bands Hephystus and Charetta  along with the bands Red Rising and RatFarm. This is a powerhouse lineup.
If your looking for new rock band to discover this is definitely a night to attend.
Progressive/Metal/Rock from Greensboro, NC.
For Fans of :
Dream Theater, Trivium, A Mutiny Within, Opeth, Avenged Sevenfold, Metallica

This is not your father’s kind of metal. This is definitely not a hair band. Hephystus is a new metallic breed ~ tight, pounding, progressive and dramatic. Three life-long friends blended their unique styles to form the core of the band. Guitarists Brandon Miller and Matt Halberg, and drummer Troy Surratt all played in previous bands together but their sound was truly cemented by the arrival of Aaron Yow’s bone-shaking bass tone. Dense and melodic, Hephystus puts the life and soul back into metal.

"Burn The Page, the new release by Greensboro based Hephystus is a magnificent album replete with original material that evoke memories of a day when ambitious, sprawling and lavishly produced rock albums were a mainstay of rock radio (YES and Emerson, Lake & Palmer come easily to mind). Make no mistake though, Burn The Page is not a rehashing of 70's rock, instead it is fresh, new, progressive metal and full of life."
- TriadLiveMusic.com

Burn the Page is an example of dark progressive metal done right. Fans of Evergrey in particular should absolutely check out what Hephystus has to offer, but this band should also appeal to fans of the larger progressive metal genre, whether that's Dream Theater and Fates Warning or Leprous and even Tool...4.5 stars - one of the best progressive metal albums you've never heard!"

An apocalypse can be translated from Greek as an uncovering, or a “lifting of the veil” to disclose something hidden. With their latest release entitled “Apocalypse”, New York City based rock band CHARETTA is attempting to lift the veil and expose their brand of rock music to a much broader audience. Already one of the well known acts in the New York scene, CHARETTA’s sound can be described as ...aggressive, groove oriented rock with angst-filled, melodic female vocals. “Apocalypse” was recorded at VuDu Studios in Port Jefferson, New York and produced by Mike Watts (Story of the Year, Theory of a Deadman). The five song EP features some of the band’s most memorable work to date. “Great grooves, monster riffs and killer vocals” says Watts.

CHARETTA (pronounced “sha-RET-uh”) consists of Angelina DelCarmen (vocals), Pablo LaFrossia (guitar), Chris Fullam (guitar), Richard Mollo (bass), and Adonis Sanchez (drums). The band formed in 2007 when Angelina moved from her hometown of Kansas City to New York City to pursue a career as an actress. Soon after, she met Pablo and Adonis who were searching for a singer for a new musical project. “She sang on our demos and just blew us away. One audition was all we needed to hear,” says Adonis. The three immediately sparked a musical chemistry and began writing new material together. Several months later they added Richard as their permanent bassist and the band’s core foundation was born. Once all the pieces were in place, they traveled to Florida to record their debut self-titled EP “Charetta” with producer Brett Hestla (Creed, Dark New Day). It was released in 2008 and offered a glimpse of what was to come. It was soon followed up by a full length album in 2009 entitled “Defying the Inevitable”, which was also produced by Brett Hestla. In 2010, the band added Chris as their second guitarist. “Chris and I have very similar styles, so it was a natural fit and easy transition,” shares Pablo. Later that year, the band began working with producer Mike Watts and would release their “A Nation Distracted” EP in 2011. The EP release show was the bands most memorable to date, as they performed for a SOLD OUT crowd at New York City’s legendary Irving Plaza.

CHARETTA has opened for such national acts such as Red, Hinder, Eye Empire, Taproot, Exist Trace, Saliva & Smile Empty Soul, and have also performed headlining shows of their own at major New York City venues such as Irving Plaza and Gramercy Theatre. In total, they have performed approximately 200 live shows to date. The band has also released two music videos and their music has been featured in the independent film “5th of a Degree” and the television show “The Mun2 Look”.  CHARETTA is poised to take the next step and make a national impact with their latest offering. The band continues to blaze their own path and “Apocalypse” will open many eyes and ears along the way. You can find them online at Charetta.com, as well as most popular music sites such as Pandora, Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, and CD Baby.

Hollywood, California, industrial-rock band Black Lodge have released their self-titled debut EP today–it’s available now on iTunes–as well as officially announced their fall 2013 US tour itinerary with select Pop Evil support dates.

The six-song Black Lodge debut EP is the first half of the band’s full-length upcoming 13-song concept album, The Diary of Tomahawk, due out in 2014, which tells the... story of an American witch named Tomahawk and her descent through a world of the occult, alchemy and ritualistic magic. Black Lodge’s debut six-song EP was written and recorded at The Realm Creative in Los Angeles by Black Lodge with co-producers and co-songwriters Johnny Royal, Gavin Reign, Jeordie White/Twiggy Ramirez, Lee Miles, Zach Webb, Sean Beavan and Johnny K.

In celebration of the EP release, Black Lodge has launched a giveaway for a chance to win a Gibson Les Paul Epiphone signed by the band and Twiggy Ramirez, as well as an Orange Crush CR 120H–for entry details, click here. Black Lodge have also made the first three chapters of their upcoming graphic novel illustrated by Marvel Comics artist Wayne Robinson available for free download on their website.

“Growing up, I would fully immerse myself into the bands that I loved: Iron Maiden, The Misfits, Marilyn Manson, Morbid Angel, NIN,” says Black Lodge founder and lead guitarist, Johnny Royal. “When I started writing this record, I wanted to create the same experience for the listener that made me fall in love with music when I was a kid: memorable songs, great videos and cool artwork. We brought all of those elements into this record and have incorporated a great deal of alchemy and the occult in our songwriting process and story arch.”

The Edge Of Paradise

Edge of Paradise might be a new band, but when your debut album includes the rhythm section of bassist Tony Franklin (Blue Murder, The Firm) and drummer Gregg Bissonette (David Lee Roth Band), you know you're already in great shape. Now add the powerhouse vocals of Margarita Monet and Dave Bates' towering guitars and you have yourself a record essential to any fan of melodic metal.

Formed by Monet and Bates in 2011, Edge Of Paradise debut release 'Mask' (Co written with Robin Mc Auley ) that came at #6 most added on national CMJ radio, right behind Machine Head and Five Finger Death Punch. An album chockfull of industrial-tinged metal coupled with soaring vocal hooks, was greatly received by critics and fans worldwide. Legendary Rock Interviews stated "Once in a while a new band comes along that not only has a unique sound of its’ own but draws upon all the things we love about metal or rock to begin with. Edge of Paradise are one of the best independent bands to come out of L.A. in some time."

Edge Of Paradise has been gearing up for the new year with new music and big plans. The group immediately began writing to showcase the bands maturity and define the direction that was pre-empted by “Mask”. Working with legendary Michael Wagener on the mix of the songs and recording with grammy winning producer Bob Kulick (Kiss, Motorhead), the new songs will be a showcase for the staggering growth and maturity, achieved since the release of the “Mask”.

Edge Of Paradise knows how to bring it live. HardRockHaven stated, "Don’t be fooled by her angelic personality and beauty, Monet’s power and intensity will grab you by the neck and won’t let go until your head is blown off by her unearthly vocal range, hitting the notes most singers would not dare to attempt. Guitarist, Dave Bates is the epitome of sheer effortless virtuosity; this guy will make all guitar players either Idolize or hate him, as there are very few guitarists on this Earth that can shred like Bates."

OUR AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
Our son lost his life to mental illness culminating in him taking his own life on 21st December 2012, a day which we will never forget. Ian was only 23 years old and left a daughter and fiancée and a heartbroken family and friends. We have decided to try and prevent this happening to others.

By providing a motorhome we can achieve two aims.
To provide holiday support for those suffering from mental illness. A motorhome can give a sense of adventure and will allow a family to work together, talk and hopefully galvanize giving a sense of worth for the one suffering.
At a time when there is a feeling of isolation, self loathing, worthlessness a holiday could possibly be the difference between suicide or survival.

The loss of a loved one through suicide is unlike any other.
When someone makes a choice to take their own life there is a feeling of " What if" or "Why"
By allowing those left behind to use our facility again we can allow families to grieve, to be alone with their thoughts or to try and answer those questions.
The grieving process is longer in a lot of cases and so we intend to work with outside agencies and charities to take referrals for those needing help at anytime.

special co-host....

In the Presence of Wolves is a Progressive Rock band that has been brewing in the minds of bassist Vini Stamato and guitarist Chris Capitanio since 2009. Wishing to do something different from conventional rock and local music, they chose to challenge themselves musically and creatively in a way that is totally different from other bands in South Jersey. After a series of setbacks and side projects, the two reconvened and got to work on their music. They embraced the freedom of prog music where they were free to experiment without labels or expectations. In 2012, they joined up with guitarist Justin Alexander and drummer Mason Ingling to solidify their lineup. Now, they're preparing to make waves and unleash their own brand of rock.

Progressive Music Returns to Dobbs on 9/21 w/ Out of the Beardspace, iNFiNiEN, Dave Mackay Group, The Tea Club & Left of Logic

The Legendary Dobbs is so AMPED for this upcoming show that features nothing but Progressive Music! This is a show from start to finish that will expand your mind musically like no other. Below features the bands and their music. Check these amazing artists out!!!

Out of the Beardspace
Out of the Beardspace is a 6-piece experimental rock band from South Jersey. Influenced by greats such as Mahavishnu Orchestra, Miles Davis, Return to Forever, The Mars Volta, Yes, King Crimson, Bjork, The Beatles, Radiohead, Frank Zappa and Duke Ellington

Here is a recent video from 2013 Liberty Music Festival at the Legendary Dobbs

Dave Mackay Group (DMG) began as an experiment in sound; an attempt at combining some very different musical ingredients in a big pot with the hope of making some tasty musical soup. Over the past few years, the band's sound has evolved into a unique style of instrumental music which lives somewhere between the worlds of alternative rock, fusion and film soundtracks.

Here is the Dave Mackay Group - Clusion (Live @ Berklee Performance Center)

Philadelphia based Experimental Progressive band. Exotic tonalities and thick chords mixed with Jazz, African, Balkan, Pop, Rock and Indian Music.
"Calling it "fusion" isn't even entirely correct, since that smacks of cocktail parties and easy-listening boredom. This is the sublimation of styles, a group of highly trained players sacrificing their training for the sake of something more exciting."-Philadelphia City Paper

Here is the iNFiNiEN's video for "Aquatica"

"...Amazement flows through me as my mind attempts to understand how such a fine piece of awesome can simply exist... M is for Masterpiece..."
-Eric Zecchel, ProgArchives.com
"...Porcupine Tree frontman Steven Wilson once stated in an interview that '...the Mars Volta, Tool, and Radiohead. . .are the future of progressive music.'
I would like to add The Tea Club to that list."
-Conor Fynes, Prog-Sphere.com

Here is The Tea Club - "Quickly Quickly Quickly" Album Teaser

Left of Logicwww.facebook.com/pages/Left-of-Logic

Left of Logic is a hard-hitting rock electronica trio featuring Austen Royce Goodman on bass guitar, Dan Townsend on keytar, and Tim Knowlton on percussion.
Blending elements of modern electronic music with the raw power of live rock performance, their music launches audiences on an energetic and mind-warping musical thrill-ride.

Here is Left of Logic - Feel This To Survive (LIVE @ BAR EAST)
