Australia's SUNSET RIOT returns to the Legendary Dobbs 6/8/13

"We had the pleasure of having Australia's Sunset Riot perfom at The Legendary Dobbs for Mama Trash's US Trashfest in 2011. These guys came in and just destroyed the Dobbs stage with a high octane performance, killer stage presence and kick ass rock songs! I highly recommend if you like straight hard rock to come check out Sunset Riot, you won't be disappointed. They will be on the big with Philly's Powerhouse rock band MACH22!!!! So you know it's gonna be a Rcok Concert!!!"   - Jim Thorpe Dobbs/DVT

With a live show that is fast, explosive and raw and songs that are both meaningful and catchy, SUNSET RIOT are fast becoming a household name. After 2 years of relentless touring across Australia's eastern seaboard "Australia's number one party rock band" (Qwik Rock Radio Station, State College PA, USA) set their sights on the USA. In mid 2011 over the course of 70 days, SUNSET RIOT traveled 18,0...00kms from Los Angeles to New York and back again, playing 35 shows and seeing many sights along the way.

As 2012 peeks over the horizon these energetic western Sydney hard rockers have re-entered the studio to record a follow-up to their international recognized debut, self-titled EP (produced by Steve James-Screaming Jets, Airbourne). This time they have enlisted the help of legendary producer Mark Opitz (INXS, ACDC, Cold Chisel, Noiseworks, Kiss, Bob Dylan) as they seek to take the next step in bringing their music to the world! Thank you so much for being apart of the journey and make sure you spread the word...SUNSET RIOT is YOUR band and we are so grateful for your support!

Fierce Bad Rabbit from Colorado hit's Dobbs this Saturday

Fierce Bad Rabbit from Colorado/Mass.

Fusing together melodic strands of indie/alternative effects with a rock foundation, Fierce Bad Rabbit creates a unique sound that travels through poignant lyrics and pop-infused tunes to gritty pieces showcasing front man Chris Anderson’s well-honed style of songwriting. Evolving from their formation in 2009, Fierce Bad Rabbit has grown from Northern Colorado roots, blending together four strong ...musical talents from different genres.

FBR just released their fourth installment in their music catalogue, a full length album entitled "The Maestro and the Elephant." Other releases include: Black and White (2009 EP), Spools of Thread (2010), and Live and Learn (2011 EP).  Tour nationally.
Opening act for several national acts, including Neon Trees, Wild Belle, Brett Dennen, Nathaniel Rateliff, and others.

With their newest album, “The Maestro and the Elephant,” released at the end of 2012, Fierce Bad Rabbit has transformed once again into a more mature, grounded, and modernized sound, while staying true to their proven poeticism and emotion-driven lyrics. Bringing multiple influences and genres, as well as collaborative writing to the project, the album presents a fresh face of Fierce Bad Rabbit, and one that includes Anderson co-writing with Shane Kiester, Rolfe, and Barcelow. As the follow up to their acclaimed 2010 release, “Spools of Thread,” as well as two EP’s, “Black and White,” and “Live and Learn,” Fierce Bad Rabbit takes the stage once again as a relevant voice in the music scene

FUNKTAPUSS returns to Dobbs 5/18 and is Bringing Da Funk!!!

Funktapuss is a five-piece groove factory that churns out smooth, sweaty New England style funk. Popping bass lines and hot guitar drive the bopping rhythm section, the backdrop to the band’s smooth, sexy vocals. With funky keyboards and saxophone added to the mix, Funktapuss keeps the crowds smiling and feet on the dance floor.
Make no mistake, Funktapuss has got chops. United States Naval veteran Brian“Beek” Vanderbeek is an accomplished musician. Mentored by bass legend Victor Wooten, Beek has spent time as a hired gun, backing up artists such as Jennifer Johns and Medusa, and recording with Satellite Grey. Multi-instrumentalist Ryan Tivey pulls double duty, playing both keyboards and saxophone. Tivey majored in music education at Berklee College of Music where he studied under Fred Lipsius, a Grammy award-winning artist known best as a member of the band Blood, Sweat, and Tears. Tivey also had the opportunity to learn from Bruce Katz and has had the pleasure of jamming with Jerry Portnoy of the Eric Clapton Band, Richard Dreyfus, David Garabaldi, Susan Tedechi, and Derek Trucks.
Building on a relationship with Beek and Tivey that dates back to their high school years, drummer Chris Santos helped form Funktapuss after earning a musical performance degree on full scholarship to Berklee College of Music. Santos, Beek, and Tivey have also toured together as members of the Zach Deputy Band, playing high profile venues and festivals throughout the east coast. Self taught guitarist Tom Davis draws from a wide spectrum of influences that run the gamut from Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughn, to Jack White. The end result is fiery riffing that rears its mighty head, adding to Funktapuss’s “wow” factor.

Accomplished vocalist Latez Crawley rounds out the band. Coming up in both gospel and school choir, Crawley competed at the all-district and all-state level and performed at Walt Disney World. Crawley earned a degree in theater music from American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. He went on to play major roles in various musical productions before joining Funktapuss in 2009.

From concert halls, to the bar, to the club, Funktapuss is a touring machine that brings the party wherever they go. They can rock a huge late-night festival crowd, or have heads bobbing in the jazz club. If you ever wondered what it would sound like if Stevie Wonder and Maceo Parker got together, you’re going to want to check out Funktapuss.
